Fevicol ka mazbut jod ... ?

Old Pencils are meant to be thrown away.
...
Old Cobwebs are meant to be blown away.
....
Old Friends are meant to Fade away from our memories ... ????
...

*******************************
Scene 1:

A bunch of Engineering rookies who spend the best part of their learning years together. When they finally walk into the real world, they plan to stay in touch forever. As the months roll by, old promises are kept. A mail a day, keeps the memories alive.

A Forward a day somehow replaces the tradition.

A few good souls try to keep the group together with sentimental mails. Trying to revive old memories. Urging all to post.

The group final dies a natural death.

*******************************

Scene 2:

At a later stage of life, enroute higher studies, two such good souls come together with a bunch of other Engineers. This Band of Engineers, is destined to stay together considering the level of maturity the group shows. It seems History wont repeat. .. Alas ...
A few months after college, the few good men try to keep the group alive. Constant email, phone calls and even planned meetings. But destiny has its own say. The group dissolves as earlier.

Some disturbing questions ? ?
------------------------------

Is there anything such as life-long Friendship ?

Should an attempt even be made to try and keep things together, or let people live their life in peace, since they dont want to be disturbed ?

Why do the good souls get so frustrated that, in the end, they are the farthest from the entire group ? Did they try too hard for their own good ?

******************

If you have answers to these questions .. I desperately need them ...

This post made me think. Its very pertinent, something nearly all of us go through.

your 1st answer: Yes.Absolutely.

Two:Quote:Should an attempt even be made to try and keep things together, or let people live their lives in peace, since they don't want to be disturbed ?

Its interesting the way you put it...*to let people live their lives in peace* :|

Well if its friends you are talking about, they surely won't feel disturbed, will they? And you mentioned engineers :P well its the familiar vicious cycle, emails/e-groups/forwards and gradual disconnect :( but on a serious note , just how many of those folks are really close friends? Sure there are several memories but there are few ,people we can truly count as friends, not counting the numerous aquaintances. And here effort comes into play. We need to make an effort to really keep in touch with the ones who matter the most.
And believe me it works. I am not looking at life through some rose-tinted glasses.I would give a personal example but I'm already on the way towards out-wording the original post [brevity aint one of my virtues :|] :P

Ask youself, how many times you replied to one of those emails/forwards...just a casual- how are you? Did you call a friend on a non-occassion[not a b'day /new year etc]?

And that brings me to the 3rd question....if its yourself you refer to as a good soul :) [then ignore my 'ask yourself'] or even if not, well relationships are sacrosanct and fragile. And even the most unconditional ones need some attention. Most of us need to know the friend reciprocates. Else we go back to the 2nd question's dilemma that, that person can do without.
Like your title *fevicol ka jod*....fevicol or any brand of glue only works on application :D .So there has to be a mutual connection.
The point is, life will go on,changing, evolving, getting busier. Yet a few good friends can make a huge difference, so to make time and give time to nurture those cherished friendships is paramount.
Few people [sadly] realise this [in time], fewer implement....but its worth it.That you wrote a post which evokes such questions is a great first step.

Well all said and done, its all a matter of choice. Wherever we are, we do keep in touch with our kin so what stops us to extend that to a few, close friends?
Family we are born to, friends we choose, so its upto us to respect that choice!!

Great Post!!
